In this article the author describes the emergence of a phenomenon that goes through the second half of the 20th century: the gradual development of the concept of serial properties.He first analyzes the first French World Heritage properties that embody the French heritage in a universal vision. The article draws a line between the first property enrolled in serial transnational properties and the serial inscriptions.

Dans cet article l’auteur expose l'émergence des biens en série au cours de la deuxième moitié du XXe siècle, tout en analysant les premiers biens français inscrits au patrimoine mondial qui incarneraient le patrimoine français dans une vision universelle. En somme, l’article revient sur le chemin parcouru entre les premiers biens inscrits et les biens en série transnationaux, afin de montrer la mise en place progressive du concept de biens en série.
