Résumé en anglais
Usually, cultural heritage conservation andmanagement have focused on heritage rescue and costeffectiveness
(related with number of visits, resources, financing, sponsorship and balance sheets), whereas
dialogue with visitors, democracy and involvement ofcommunity have been marginalized as secondary tasks. So,
the emotional values can be lost in the process. This paper deals on those proceedings, discusses about
dilemmas –and, above all, those related with recognition andemotional variables- cultural politics face with, particularly
analyzing results in the case of restoration works in Vitoria’sSanta Maria Cathedral (Spain), where the strategy was
focused by a meaningful slogan: “Opened by works”.
