The project was carried out over the brief period from January to end of April 2014. Case study authors from Asia-Pacific, Africa, the Arab States, Latin America and Europe enthusiastically engaged with the project focus [...] carrying out field research, preparing papers and presentations for the Project Workshop that was held as an Advisory Bodies Expert Meeting in Oslo, Norway on 1st to 3rd of April 2014.
The Workshop over three days was arranged as interlinked case study presentations , each followed by a discussant’s review, with formal and informal discussions in an atmosphere of excellent dialogue, sharing of experience and knowledge, and expressed will to advance mutual understanding and support of the complex topic of the project and workshop.Central questions in the workshop activity have been:
• What are the emerging lessons about how rights are addressed in different World Heritage sites?• What are the enabling conditions and specific opportunities for strengthening RBA?
• What are the opportunities for Advisory Body action to support and facilitate effective RBA?This report presents key issues discussed and recommended for further action by the Advisory Bodies, with a brief presentation of the Advisory Bodies Project and Workshop.
