The contribution focuses on the review and analysis of intervention modalities and approaches on the buildings in danger of collapsing in the medina of Fez classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.It explores the evolution of these approaches over the past three decades from an interventionist and normative approach to a social and inclusive approach involving the concerned inhabitants who are at the centre of rehabilitation operations and making them the real conductors of these works (e.g. by giving them the responsibility to supervise the works themselves and to
define the methods of intervention on their own buildings).Based on a series of interviews with the institutional actors involved in the process the rehabilitation of these buildings (Agence de développement et de réhabilitation de Fès, Commune
urbaine), the associations active in the Medina and an exploratory sample of the inhabitants concerned by these projects, the paper highlights the impacts and social and economic implications of these new approaches in the process of appropriation of the historical urban fabric by its own inhabitants.

La contribution porte sur l’examen et l’analyse des modalités et des approches d’interventionsur les constructions menaçant ruine dans la médina de Fès classée patrimoine mondial de l’UNESCO.
Elle explore l’évolution de ces approches durant les trois dernières décennies en montrant le passaged’une approche interventionniste et normative à une approche sociale et inclusive mettant les habitants
