Proceedings of the symposium held in Poitiers, France, 24-25 November 1994, and in Rochefort on November 26th, 1994. Sectoral aspects or some significant markets at national and regional dimensions are developed in this study. The enhancement of urban heritage and its role as a lever to initiate or enrich local development policies are explained. Built heritage as a factor to local development, from significant examples is also depicted. The training and qualification issues related to the craft industry are discussed. The international dimension of heritage as a development factor is also highlighted. The industries of restoration, rehabilitation of buildings and their quality requirements are finally presented.
