Résumé en anglais
ln the last years the centre of interest of the care ofmonuments in the architectural sphere has been transferred
from the individual structures to the groups ofthem and to the whole historical towns. A renewal of
the sets of historical buildings and towns, which wouldbe succesful from the artistic, technical and economical
viewpoints, was however hindered by bad knowledge oftheir urbanistic and architectural body. Within the framework of the pre-project preparation
at the State lnstitute of Re-development of HistoricalTowns and Buildings a methodology of constructional
and historical, architectural, constructional and technicalresearches has been worked out. The resulting
study consists of these parts: the history of the buildingencluded the annotation of the sources, iconography,
plans and literature, the architectural analysis of thebuilding, its constructural evolution, the constructional
and technical description of the building, the statementof the architectural details being of value and of the most important architectural defects, and the regulations
for clearance and re-development.The constructional and historical evaluation of all
structures {wall of the ceiling, vaults) in concordancewith their stylistical origin is marked in corresponding
colours on the plans of all floors of the analysed set orgroup and in graphic signs on the plan of each building
in the scale 1/200. At the same time an architecturaland historical evaluation is made, which includes ail
structures and spaces, on the same level of details aswith the previous evaluation. The building and historical
analysis of the whole town or of the core of it isaccordingly simplified to make base for urbanistical
studies and projects, in the scale 1/1.000.The application of the above methodology has made it
possible to learn in detail the development and theconstructional essence of the Czechoslovak historical
towns, which on the world scale represent one of themost important manifestations of urbanism and architecture
of the past millenium.
