Africa is the continent traversed by the explorers opening the doors to the colonial powers, the trans-Saharan trade and the Atlantic trade. So the multiple routes worthy of systematic research, documentation, conservation, enhancement and extension. Paradoxically, the major routes of Africa are still very poorly understood. We dedicate this work to the caravan routes of the trans-Saharan trade. We must ensure that Africa is like our double-edged sword that does not cut it.

L’Afrique est ce continent sillonné par les explorateurs ouvrant ainsi les portes aux puissances coloniales, au commerce transsaharien et au commerce atlantique. Donc aux multiples itinéraires dignes d’étude systématique, de documentation, de conservation, de valorisation et de vulgarisation. Paradoxalement, les grands itinéraires de l’Afrique sont encore très mal connus. Nous consacrons ce présent travail aux routes caravanières du commerce transsaharien. Il faut éviter que l’Afrique soit comme notre couteau à double tranchant qui ne coupe pas.
