The role of archaeology is presented as a means of access to the different biocultural arrangements that have prevailed in a territory based on the particular appropriations of space, which result in their own configurations. The importance of this role is focused on the generation of information about the past through the recovery of highly variable data, not only of aesthetic and/or monumental appeal, but also as a material record of the biocultural production of landscapes.

Se presenta el rol de la arqueología como vía de ingreso a los diferentes ordenamientos bioculturales que han prevalecido en un territorio a partir de las apropiaciones particulares del espacio, que resultan en configuraciones propias. Se focaliza la importancia de este rol en la generación de información sobre el pasado mediante la recuperación de datos altamente variables, no sólo de atractivo estético y/o monumental, sino como registro material de la producción biocultural de paisajes.
