Résumé en anglais
For some time now I have been joining forces with a colleague in an attempt to draw attention to the need for consciencious historical studies as a premise to restoration work, and I feel this is good opportunity to stress the importance of the visible evidence regarding the origins of the building to be restored, and of its correct interpretation. Practical experience has taught me the importance of the traces left by history for the making decisions, for proper knowledge of a building and for study of the materials and tools of the past and of the way they were used, and I propose to demonstrate the truth of this.
