18th May 1986 marked the birthday of the architect Friedrich Wilhelm von Erdmannsdorff. He was one of the most important figures of the Dessau-Wörlitz reformatory work, which was set up as a programme in the small principality of Anhalt-Dessau according to the model of advances European states such as Great Britain in the last third of the 18th century. This reformatory programme was established in keeping with an advanced art and culture in which architecture, urban and landscape development occupied an outstanding place.
