Résumé en anglais
There are many towns in Georgia that date back to the most ancient times, but only few of them retained the plans and buildings typical for the middle ages. An extensive work has been carried out recently in reconstruction and restoration of the old districts of historically important towns, significan efforts having been made in this respect in Tbilisi, the capital of our Republic. The old districts of the city preserved ramshackle, depreciated buildings surrounded with faceless extensions and outhouses of later origin. The city authorities had once decided to have them pulled down, and it was but a miracle that they have survived.
