Résumé en anglais
The fortuitous discovery of oil in the 1960s was the catalyst for a whirlwind of change that has forever transformed the modest fishing, pearling and Bedouin settlements and farms of Abu Dhabi to cosmopolitan metropolises and fully-fledged towns. While the export of oil was the trigger to the astonishing urban transformation of Abu Dhabi over the past fifty years; today, the stock of the modern buildings that were witness to Abu Dhabi’s historic metamorphosis is quickly disappearing because of rapid development, real estate speculation and rising land value.
