The purpose of this Charter is to establish, in the context of Spain, the basic objectives and strategies of action required to promote the integrated management of prehistoric rock art and its landscapes as the way to ensure their preservation and social recognition and, consequently, their transmission to future generations in the best possible condition.

El propósito de esta Carta es establecer, en el contexto español, los objetivos básicos y las estrategias de acción necesarias para promover la gestión integrada del arte rupestre prehistórico y de sus paisajes, como medio para garantizar su preservación y reconocimiento social y, como consecuencia, su transmisión a las generaciones venideras en las mejores condiciones posibles.
