Résumé en anglais
The focus lays on multi-storey constructions from the interwar time in Eastern and Mediterranean Europe. These building may need upgrading interventions. Such ones belong in Italy either to the Milanese Novecento movement, or to Italian rationalism, the main representative of which was Giuseppe Terragni. How does oneto approach rationalist buildings and what they mean? Daniel Libeskind seems to have seen a way. The author worked in a researchstudio under the guidance of the world renowned architect in the same year and on the same topic the book Libeskind’s "The space ofencounter" was published. It is about memory in architecture and the significance of the space. The lessons from this experience are shown in this paper.
